Real Friends

Hello there, it's me: this is something new that's going to be appearing regularly throughout the year. It's called Real Friends, a TV show I created in 2015. Today we commemorate 20 years of the show's premiere, which was on May the 2nd, 1998. The show began production on July 28, 1997, and the first episode wrapped up production on August 1 of that year. The was pitched to AVB on July 29, for 36 episodes, the auditions were held the day after, the eight members were cast, however, one of them decided to work on another project, and one more audition was held on July 31. On the afternoon, the table reading took place, but without the main cast members, Joey Henderson, the creator, wanted the eight of them to meet on the day of filming, which was the following day. And so it happened, on that same day, the eight members became friends. The show premiered in May 1998 to 40.1 millions viewers in the USA, it broke the record of most viewers for an episode of an AVB show, which was matched on June 23, 2017. The show is highly regarded as one of the best shows of all time, and has been cited as: A comedy that should be taken seriously.

The Bosses:
Luke (Brian Ray): A fun and easygoing man, who was the third to join the company, he's someone fun to be around with and will constantly be looking to help others.
Christie (Mandy Morrison): A nice woman, who was the co-founder alongside Ryan, he tends to be a little tougher than the other characters, but her nice persona makes up for it.
Ryan (John Raymond): An excellent person, who was the co-founder alongside Christie, Ryan is shown to be a smart, direct and well-meaning man, who will always be looking to do what's best.
Jessie (Alison Stevens): The fourth member to join the group and the youngest boss, Jessie is a pretty subtle person but when the time requires it, she can become someone hard, nonetheless, it is possible to almost always find her in a good mood and she'll always be willing to do good things.
The Employees:
Kevin (Marvin Mendez): The oldest member of the group and the first employee to be hired, he's a relaxed man who doesn't really think of every single aspect and can sometimes be a bit dubious, but he always has good intentions for people.
Jo (Rose Thompson): The youngest member of the group and the last to join it, Jo's arguably the most intense member of the group, but is always shown with a good, nice and amicable personality and will always look to do something good.
Charlie (Brad Williams): The youngest male member of the group and the second employee to join the group, he's perhaps the most easygoing and most dubious person in the group, he can show at times signs of not wanting to some some things but will always and very consistently show that he's a good man.
Kim (Ann Lee): The third employee to be hired, she is a lover of the art of cooking. She constantly shows her good personality but her tone can switched to a serious one, but the objective of what she's talking will remain the same. She's gladly help someone if the person needs it.
The show's message is to show what real friends are for, and throughout the situations that occur it is shown in the end. Throughout the first season the characters break the fourth wall, in the second seasons they make pop culture references, in the third season they quote famous movie lines, in the fourth season they imitate celebrities, with many appearing throughout the season, in season 5 they express their opinion on mostly serious topics and in the sixth season they do everything that had been done.
The show went through a different direction in the fourth season, with a noticeable increase of famous guest stars, something that has been received with mixed opinions, the cast members were not really fond on the constant appearances of guest stars. The show improved towards the end of the season, and the fifth season turned out to be good, but still had a lot of emphasis on guest stars. Season 6 was an improvement over the two and it concluded the series well.
The show, the actors and the people behind the show received numerous awards. Many claim that the first line of the show, spoken by John Raymond, is one of the best ever said on television.
"Hello there. I'm Ryan. Throughout this program, you will be able to see what's going to occur, a lot of crazy stuff, a lot of serious stuff, but whatever the situation is, there's always the same purpose: what real friends are for. We all need friends, we know why they're important, here, although some things will not seem consistent, just remember the message I just talked about. It's something that needs to be taken into account at all times, however crazy a situation can be. No matter how many doubts you have, the purpose will stay the same, I can assure you that, almost every doubt that you have there will be cleared as you watch the show, I hope you will enjoy almost everything that will come out on here. Thanks for making the decision of staying to watch, enjoy the show"
The show premiered at 21:30 Pacific Time Zone on the AVB Channel on May 2, 1998. It is the only AVB show ever to air every single episode in order, and to never change its running time.

The scene then progresses to them talking about how long they've been working together, Jo then states that she can't believe how much time has passed and Charlie afterwards says that sometimes the lessons that they're taught do not always seem the way they are. Ryan points out that it will take time for some to understand them properly. Luke confirms that Ryan's statement is affirmative, to which the others agree, Kim proceeds with saying that they should more consistent, the others then stare at her and them she claims that she didn't say her statement correctly and leaves the room.
After the theme song is played, the bosses are shown eating at Rosso's where Ryan explains that it will be their main hangout place outside the house, the four are then seen talking about projects for university, after Luke talks about one he's in charge of. Christie states that her final project was similar but a bit more complicated with Jessie then saying that they'll have an ever bigger one the following year. Ryan affirms that they shouldn't stress out about their projects, the others then claim that Ryan's final project was too easy, Ryan states that it wasn't really that easy and points out that he was trying to give some advice, the other realize that fact after thinking about it and admit that Ryan was right, he [Ryan] afterwards states that being rights feels good.
At the house, Jo is shown talking on the phone with one of her professors, Professor Mitchell, about her latest project and the company, Kevin and Charlie come in and talk about the topics and Kim comes in and joins the talk, they all suggest she find a solution because they're unsure on what advice to give; the three leave and Jo feels desperate. The bosses then come in, and Ryan consoles Jo saying that every problem has a solution; Jo feels relieved and thanks Ryan, after Jo leaves the other bosses point out that Ryan is a good adviser and that he should make money out of giving advice, and Ryan states that he may do just that, after the bosses leave, Ryan tells the viewers some features about himself and that others frequently point out those features.
After the first break, the scene cuts to Ryan's room where he's playing a with a Gameboy and Luke talking to him while he's taking notes on his notebook. The two talk about what they've done lately and Luke expresses that he[Ryan]'s great at basically everything, Ryan states that he has flaws just like everyone and Luke responds with saying that real friends are there to state good things about others as well as others statements. He leaves and Ryan admits that he hadn't expected him to say something like that, because he's more about saying fun stuff, Luke then enters and suggests that they play video games and he stays that he's up for it and they leave the room, he then returns to the room stating that they'll see something good later on.
The scenario cuts to Kim's room with Jo talking to Kim about what she's going to do with Kim commenting that what she plans to do is good, while she's filing her fingernails, Kevin and Charlie come into the room, then revealing that Professor Mitchell (Andrew McCormick) came, he then reveals that some things about the project are going to be changed and that he misunderstood what Jo was claiming with also pointing out that she's a good student and apologizes for not always noting her good intentions. Jo then apologizes, saying that she got out of control when she stated her claim. The other praise Jo for being strong on stating what she'd said, Ryan states that it is always good to be strong, no matter how hard a situation can be. Jo affirms that and thanks everyone for trusting and supporting her adding that they're great friends.
After the second break, Kevin, Charlie and Luke are shown in the living room, with Kevin and Charlie on how confident people can be when it comes to rough situations, Charlie states that a lot people have so many doubts, they don't really think of the good aspects, Kevin agrees on the fact and Luke joins in that everyone will have doubts on certain things, and that the bad moments are going to be there, Kevin thinks of what he said and agrees on it, and Charlie adds furthermore that you can't really get rid of bad things, no matter how hard you try, bad things will always appear at some point. The girls come in and start talking about how life can be tough, because Kim had just had an argument with a cousin on the phone, and they're unsure if Kim will be able to move forward from the problem, Ryan then appears and enters from the window, and proceed to give advice to Kim and the others. Once again, he's praised for giving out good advise, and Ryan thanks them for their statements.
After the others leave, Ryan proceed to state what Luke had told him earlier, that real friends are there support each other, through thick and thin, and that if people ever had doubts about it, they shouldn't ever be afraid of asking, every doubt that people have about other will be answered at some point. Ryan finishes his talk thanking the viewers for sticking around to what happened throughout the episodes and leaves.

Skywriter: An interesting, but not so good album

The Jackson 5 were one of the most succesful musical acts of the 1970s, having well-known songs such as "I Want You Back" and "ABC", later, to increase the sales, Motown launched Michael Jackson's solo career, releasing his first solo single "Got to Be There" in late 1971.

Michael later got his first #1 solo single with "Ben", the song was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1973, losing to "The Morning After" by Maureen McGovern from " The Poseidon Adventure", Jackson performed the song at the ceremony. The song won a Golden Globe Award for Best Song.

Despite that success, the Jackson 5's own records were starting to decline, Michael was frustraded with the direction he and his brothers were going in; and they also began writing their own material, but Motown prevented them from recording their own compositions.
On March 29, 1973; their eight studio album "Skywriter" was released. The brothers' frustation is noted on the front cover, where they're looking at the camera around an early-1900s-era aeroplane.

J5-skywriter.jpg

The album was their least successful because of only one top 20 single, a cover of "Corner of the Sky" from the musical "Pippin", and lack of promotion because the brothers were on tour. The album sold 2.8 million copies worldwide.

At this point Michael's vocal were showing signs of maturity, as were Jermaine's; notably, Michael's voiced is heard breaking in "Hallelujah Day" and in other songs such as "Uppermost" the maturity on his voice is very noticeable. The album contains a cover of The Supremes' "Touch", one of the most controversial songs Michael Jackson sang in his career. It is about satisfying someone in bed.

The album contains a total of 10 songs, 3 of which are covers; the aforementioned "Touch" and "Corner of the Sky" and a rendition of The Four Tops's "I Can't Quit Your Love", it also contains the last song written by The Corporation; the quarter that wrote many of their songs, including their 4 #1 singles, "You Made Me What I Am". This was the final album to contain the bubblegum pop sound for which the brothers were known.

The track listing is this:
1. Skywriter (Mel Larson, Jerry Marcellino) 3.08
2. Hallelujah Day (Freddie Perren, Christine Yarian) 2.46
3. The Boogie Man (Deke Richards) 2.56
4. Touch (The Supremes Cover) (Pam Sawyer, Frank Wilson) 3.00
5. Corner of the Sky (from the Musical Pippin) (Stephen Schwartz) 3.33
6. I Can't Quit Your Love (The Four Tops Cover) (Leonard Caston, Kathy Wakefield) 3.12
7. Uppermost (Clifton Davis) 2.26
8. World of Sunshine (Mel Larson, Jerry Marcellino) 2.45
9. Ooh, I'd Love to Be with You (Fonce Mizell, Larry Mizell) 2.49
10. You Made Me What I Am (The Corporation: Berry Gordy, Alphonso Mizell, Freddie Perren, Deke Richards) 2.50

In my personal opinion:
I can see why the album wasn't so successful, the same genre and most songs being about love; however, this album is also different in a good way. The tune is a bit dark, unlike other albums. Michael's voice...can sound a bit annoying at times; let me remind you, he was going through vocal changes, but overall it's not terrible, but it could've been better. The brothers don't put a lot of emotion and once you read what was going on between them, you will understand the reason. Michael's voice really shows signs of not being interested most of the time.
As for the songs, I feel they're good, but if Motown had focused a bit on promoting the album, then it could've been among their best material. "Corner of the Sky" was performed in late 1972 on television, "Hallelujah Day" has also been performed and "Skywriter" appeared on "Top of the Pops" in September 1973, the brothers themselves appeared on the show.

This is what I think of the songs, I apologise if they don't seem so convincing to you, this is done just for entertainment purposes, try to understand that, or at least recognise that fact.

Skywriter: A good opener to the album, and the only song on the album that finishes properly (without fading out), it is a songs about getting the attention to someone you love. It has good instrumentation and good rhythm. Definitely one of the highlights of the album. 5/5
Hallelujah Day: Those who are religious will surely enjoy this little jam, it's one of the tracks from the album that must be checked out, it has really good rhythm and instrumentation, whoever played the piano deserves some credit. Good song to listen while you're on your way to the church. 4/5
The Boogie Man: A scary beat that, will perhaps be enjoyable if you like scary things or if you're not afraid of anything, not one of my personal favourites and not one I'm crazy about, but in all, it's alright. 3/5
Touch (cover): It has good arrangement and the backing vocals are a stand-out, one of the album's slower jams, it's weird to think that a 14-year old, who was the lead singer of the band sang this track. This is one of the tracks in which you can imagine the situation that's going on in the song. 4/5
Corner of the Sky (cover): Perhaps the best of all the tracks, this is a track where many people, if they listen to it and/or read the lyrics, will undoubtedly be able to relate to the song's meaning. Special credit to the musicians, who made really good effort when recording the track. 5/5
I Can't Quit Your Love (cover): A track that could be the main theme of a film, it is another one where you can imagine the situation as you listen to the song; it has really good instrumentation; a not-so-good thing is the fact that not a lot energy came from the brothers, and it is shown in this tracks, but nonetheless, it is fairly enjoyable. 3/5
Uppermost: This track has grown on me recently, it can't be considered one of the greatest tracks, but it has such a different feeling, it's yet another one where you can imagine the situation, what perhaps spoils the song, is Michael's vocals not totally sounding like a person really is feeling in a situation like that of the song. The strings heard are really good and the tune is one that causes mystery. 4/5
World of Sunshine: Another one of the highlights, this is one case of the brothers singing in unison, the instrumentation is a bit odd but fits in with the theme of enjoying your time. It is one that people should listen to while they are on a road trip. 4/5
Ooh, I'd Love to be With You: Also a slow track, a little similar to "Touch" in instrumentation, this one also has the potential of being the song of a film. 4/5
You Made Me What I Am: A good closer, good to be in a film, fairly similar to the "I Can't Quit Your Love" cover, one highlight of the entire album is the brothers singing "Testify, testify, come on, testify" to the rhythm of the percussion, which is really good. 4/5
Thoroughly speaking, I don't have much to complain about the album, I have nothing against it really, but when you listen to it, you know it's not an excellent album. The worst part of it is arguably the vocals, particularly those from Michael. If you read more information on him and his brothers, you will understand their personal perspective. Despite what you may think, I do recommend checking this album out, but not without recognising the fact that, it will not be great to you.

Skywriter: Un álbum interesante pero no tan bueno

Los Jackson 5 fueron uno de los actos musicales más exitosos de la década de 1970, con canciones conocidas como "I Want You Back" y "ABC". Más tarde, para aumentar las ventas, Motown lanzó la carrera en solitario de Michael Jackson, lanzando su primer álbum. solo "Got to Be There" a finales de 1971.

Michael Jackson - Got to be there (single) Netherlands version.jpg

Ben Michael Jackson.jpg

1. Skywriter (Mel Larson, Jerry Marcellino) 3.08
2. Hallelujah Day (Freddie Perren, Christine Yarian) 2.46
3. The Boogie Man (Deke Richards) 2.56
4. Touch (The Supremes Cover) (Pam Sawyer, Frank Wilson) 3.00
5. Corner of the Sky (from the Musical Pippin) (Stephen Schwartz) 3.33
6. I Can't Quit Your Love (The Four Tops Cover) (Leonard Caston, Kathy Wakefield) 3.12
7. Uppermost (Clifton Davis) 2.26
8. World of Sunshine (Mel Larson, Jerry Marcellino) 2.45
9. Ooh, I'd Love to Be with You (Fonce Mizell, Larry Mizell) 2.49
10. You Made Me What I Am (The Corporation: Berry Gordy, Alphonso Mizell, Freddie Perren, Deke Richards) 2.50

I Can't Quit Your Love (cover): Una canción que podría ser el tema principal de una película, es otra en la que puedes imaginar la situación mientras escuchas la canción; tiene una instrumentación realmente buena; algo no tan bueno es el hecho de que no mucha energía vino de los hermanos, y se muestra en esta pista, pero, sin embargo, es bastante agradable. 3/5
Ooh, I'd Love to Be with You: También una pista lenta, un poco similar a "Touch" en instrumentación, esta también tiene el potencial de ser el tema de una película. 4/5
You Made Me What I Am: Un buen cerrador,  bueno para estar en una película, bastante similar al cover de "I Can't Quit Your Love", un punto destacante de todo el álbum son los hermanos que cantan "Testifique, testifique, venga, testifique" al ritmo de la percusión, que es realmente buena. 4/5

In the same month, he met his eventual agent Mark Lopez, Lopez officially became his agent on April 16, 1980 and would hold that job until October 3, 2016. John's early work between 1980 and 1985 was mainly child-aimed projects, in 1985 got moderate fame with his appearances in The Playground and began to give interviews on a regular basis, as well as meet a wide variety of famous people (he did get to know celebrities before but not frequently). The year 1986 was a year of not many highlights for him, since his parents wanted to focus more on their education. But the following year, it would be different. Something unforgettable would happen. On January 9, 1987, Mark Lopez, his agent learned that there were auditions for the Billy's Life program, Lopez claimed that Raymond would be perfect for the main role. He went to his house to tell him what happened, and after school he went to Entertainment Studios for the audition. A few hours later, he found out through a phone call that he had got the role. He could not believe it! It was something to be proud of, due to certain events, the production did not officially begin until February 2, the day on which the first episode was filmed, that day he met his co-stars and made friends with them, but is closer with Matt Smith, Julie Johnson and Stevie Lowe. The series premiered on September 5 of the same year and was an immediate success. On October 10 of that year, the series was renewed for a second season and another unexpected event occurred, having calculated all of John's earnings, Mark Lopez announced to his family that he had become the richest member of the family; fact that is still true until now. On December 8, 2000 it was confirmed that Raymond was the fifth most paid actor in the US and 17 years later he had become the highest earner, with a $ 100 billion fortune. The series continued to air until June 27, 1992, the third season was notable in that Raymond began to appear in public on a regular basis with his beard; The finale of the series broke the record in being the most watched finale in the history of television in the United States 106.9 million viewers. Three years later Raymond would get one of his best and most important roles in the movie titled The Big Dark Secret, Raymond received enormous critical acclaim and his performance in the film it took him to his first Oscar nomination. During production of the film, Raymond went through a period of anxiety, a period that would occur, thirteen years later. On July 30, 1997 he landed the role of Ryan Johnson in the most acclaimed AVB TV show "Real Friends", the first episode was filmed two days after the auditions, Raymond became close to his co-stars that same day. The series premiered on May 2, 1998 and culminated on November 29, 2003. The first episode broke the record of being the most watched episode of a series of AVB with 40.1 million viewers, then matched by an episode of the series International Job on June 23, 2017. On July 2, 2004, the movie Action!  where he played the main character. It was a worldwide success and his performance took him to his first Oscar (for Best Actor). On March 9, 2005, on his 30th birthday, for his honors, he was awarded with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, this star stands out in which the categories of Television and Movies are in it, and not separately. On July 7, 2005 the animated series Gordon was released, where he voiced the titular character, this was his first main role in an animated series, the series concluded on August 26, 2010. On October 3, 2016 he became in his own agent after the death of Mark Lopez, 7 months later, on May 9, 2017, John Raymond Productions opens, a company where he is responsible for several productions.

On October 28, 2016, he released his first book titled: How to Be Your Own Agent. It was written in just 10 days. It was a success, winning the Book of the Year Award.

Llegaría a algo inolvidable.
